DEFINITIONS

NEW WEBSITE - You have absolutely nothing established. You will need a Domain registered, hosting set up, and a design and setup of the site, with you providing all required images, logos, text, information and whatever else you need on your website.

REDESIGN OF EXISTING WEBSITE - You already have a website in the Internet, but feel it is in need of a make-over, new look and image, and possibly an update to the content.

WORK ON, OR ADDITION TO EXISTING WEBSITE - You have an existing website, but need to expand it, or add additional pages, products, images etc.

MAINTENANCE ON EXISTING WEBSITE - You require someone to maintain and update your existing website as required. Please note the fee for Maintenance on websites NOT created by The Gathering Storm are slightly higher, due to unfamiliarity with the content that exists.

LOGO DESIGN - You need a Logo designed for your business or Company.

DOMAIN REGISTRATION NEEDED - To have a website, you need to register a domain name. That is the website address, such as www.mycompany.co.za, or www.mywebsite.com. As a guide, shorter is always better when deciding on a name, and registration will depend on the availability of the name or something similar that you choose. I undertake to research these for you.
See the Services page for approximate costs for this, and registrations.

DOMAIN REGISTRATION NOT NEEDED - You have already registered a domain name for the website.

HOSTING NEEDED - You website must be stored, or hosted somewhere in order to be displayable on the Internet. Many companies offer this service at varying prices, either on a monthly, or yearly basis. I try to find the best price solution to your needs.

HOSTING NOT NEEDED - You already have a hosting system established, either independently, or as part of the package with the Domain name.

ESTIMATED NUMBER OF PAGES - It may not be simple for you to estimate the number of pages you will need. A "page" is determined by me as what can be seen on a screen, with one scroll down.

All websites require at least 2 fairly standard basic pages. An Index, or Home page that introduces your site, a page of Contact details, with or without a facility to send email from the website directly (see EMAIL FROM THE WEBSITE below). Beyond that, it will depend on how much information or products and so on you will want to display, that will ultimately determine how many pages are required. My Pricing page shows a guide to how costs are assessed for numbers of pages. So if you think your products will need perhaps 4 pages, you will need a 6 page site. Other additional pages may be things such as Company Profile, News and so on.

SPECIAL WEBSITE REQUIREMENTS ANTICIPATED:

EMAIL FROM THE WEBSITE - On your contact page, you may wish to have a way for visitors to email directly by completing a form, or sending feedback, suggestions or comments to you. This is accomplished by a fill-in form (such as you will see on my Contact page) that comes to your chosen email address.

VISITOR COUNTER - Essentially what is called a "hit counter", showing how many times a specific page is visited. This may be visible or hidden. Hidden counters require that you log into another website, and view the accumulated statistic there. Naturally, that also allows for much more complex information gathering by the counter, such as which country you may have been visited from, how many unique visitors per day, or month, and so on. A visible counter (see my HOME page at the very bottom) simply logs each time the page is dispalyed by someone.

ORDER FORMS - If you have a client base that runs an Account with you, and they are Invoiced monthly for purchases, this is a viable option, and MUCH cheaper to establish. The website will have an Order Form that can be filled in, and sent to you as an email, which you then fulfill and process. The ordered items are added to your client's Account.

SHOPPING CART - As suggested, it is an online shopping feature. It is very complex to set up, and with South African Banking regulations, the order at the end cannot be processed by you via Credit Card machine manually at your premises, because the Banks require a signed slip for every purchase. This is not so in other countries necessarily. So, for South Africa, an agreement must be established with a third-party processor, who will transact the credit card purchase on your behalf. Be aware they charge a fee for setup, and also a small fee for every transaction.

MEMBER SELF-REGISTRATION System whereby a visitor can gain access to restricted area of the site by first registering themselves on the site, and then having access with a Username and Password of their own making

USER LOGIN SYSTEM - Some website owners wish to have certain items, pricelists, or individual client-sensitive information not available to the general visitor. These can be stored behind a Log-In, so that it can only be accessed by those who have the Username and Password.
The option of HOW the user gets Login details will be your choice. Either they must email their details to you first for approval, and you then supply a Username and Password, or they can Self-Register (see above)

BLOG OR FORUM MESSAGE BOARD - This is a page or website that allows visitors to add comments, posts, information, tips, gripes etc to the website themselves, which everyone can see. It is very complex to set up and costs associated with it reflect that.

BUDGET You must advise the approximate budget you have set aside for the website project. With that information, we can determine if the project can be accepted based on what you are prepared to pay.
